Castine Classic Yacht RaceNielsen Celebration
August 2 – 3, 2017

The Castine Yacht Club is sponsoring the eighteenth annual Castine Classic Yacht Race from Castine to Camden on Thursday, August 3. This 19.6nm race will be the first of three day races in conjunction with the Camden Classic Yacht Race to Brooklin and the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta—and will follow the Camden Classic Regatta, July 25-27. The race is open to all monohull Classic and Spirit of Tradition yachts at least 28’ LOA with a valid Mark II CRF rating certificate. Each yacht must tow a proper dinghy; no toys, please. Maynard Bray and Tom Jackson, authors of “Worthy of the Sea”, the definitive Nielsen treatise, will orchestrate the discussion among a distinguished panel of skippers, builders and historians. Spirit of Classic Yacht Races: These three races epitomize the best of sportsmanship and safe sailing. They are “fun” races of old, priceless, classic yachts, many of which do not regularly race competitively. In this spirit, all skippers are expected to sail conservatively and avoid dangerous situations. Indicate your intentions and, if in doubt, give way.

Registration: To assist us in planning these events, please return the Registration Form as soon as possible but not later than July 20th. Your entry may now be completed online. To register for the Camden Classic Yacht Race to Brooklin and the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, please refer to; to register for the Camden Classic Regatta, please refer to The preliminary Sailing Instructions and other materials are posted here. This race will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. If you have any questions, please contact us.
